Tribune Media Services Data Powers TV Program Guide on ThinkFlood's RedEye Remotes for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch
CHICAGO and WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 10, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Tribune Media Services (TMS), the leading provider of entertainment information, and ThinkFlood, maker of RedEye remotes for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, announced a data licensing agreement that brings a free, integrated TV program guide to life for RedEye users.

RedEye and RedEye mini users in the U.S. and Canada now have access to a comprehensive TV program guide within the RedEye application. Available now for free download in the iTunes Store, the RedEye app can be previewed at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/redeye/id315598320?mt=8. Powered by rich, deep and robust TMS TV data, the guide offers program information for all broadcast and cable networks and local stations in addition to program descriptions and details. Ultimately, the guide helps RedEye users stay up-to-date on their viewing options and make informed entertainment decisions.
RedEye remote users can browse current and upcoming programming without disrupting what they are currently watching because the guide appears on their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, not on their TV screen or monitor.
ThinkFlood's RedEye products turn the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch into networked universal remotes that can operate anything controlled by infrared signals: TVs, set-top boxes, video game consoles, stereos, and more. No matter when customers purchase their hardware, they will always receive the latest RedEye features and improvements—like the TV program guide—for free, through automatic software updates.
"ThinkFlood's vision—an interface allowing users to see what's on the remote instead of the TV screen—is quite an innovative one," said Jay Fehnel, Chief Operating Officer, TMS Entertainment Products. "We are thrilled to be working with them on the RedEye guide deployment and to be playing an important role in their users' entertainment decision-making process."
"Our agreement with Tribune Media Services showcases one of major advantages of having a networked remote like RedEye," said Matt Eagar, President and founder of ThinkFlood. "Internet connectivity is not just about sharing new software with our customers; it's about giving them features that wouldn't be possible without the Internet—like access to up-to-date program and channel information from TMS, the company providing program information to all the major cable and satellite providers."
TMS data powers television and movie guides for AOL, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, Dish Network, Google, IMDB, Microsoft, Time Warner Cable, TiVo, The New York Times, USA Today, Yahoo!, and now RedEye remotes.
