The companies on the "Tech Tour Growth 50" list were selected based on quantitative parameters such as revenue, growth, and economic value, as well as qualitative measures. They were judged by a committee of leading investors and advisors including George Coelho (Good Energies), Sasha Galitsky (Almaz Capital), Sven Lingjaerde (Endeavour Vision), Jochen Brellochs (Gimv), Anne Glover (Amadeus Capital) and entities such as Bank of America, Accel Partners, DN Capital, Earlybird, Silverpeak, International Venture Club and the World Economic Forum.
Marco Trombetti, CEO of Translated, commented: "With Translated we have always aimed to revolutionize the translation industry, leveraging big data and artificial intelligence to provide efficient, quality translation services. This award is a further incentive to continue on this path."
William Stevens, Managing Director of Tech Tour, explained: "The billion dollar successes of unicorns are the tip of the iceberg. Tech Tour Growth 50 puts the next layer of Europe's high-tech, high-growth businesses in the limelight. These companies have created more than 8000 high-tech jobs, attracted over 3.5 billion dollars of investment, and have an estimated combined valuation of 14.2 billion dollars. This clearly demonstrates Europe's strength, potential and competitiveness in scaling up tech businesses."
Founded in 1999 by Marco Trombetti and Isabelle Andrieu, Translated's growth is characterized by the development of innovative software such as T-Rank, MyMemory, and MateCat. T-Rank is an algorithm for determining in real-time the best professional translator for any kind of translation. MyMemory is software which collects and organizes all previously translated phrases in an online multilingual database. MateCat is software for professional translators which uses artificial intelligence to speed up the process and improve translation quality. Translated recently undertook the development of a new project, ModernMT, which is artificial intelligence capable of automatically translating a text by selecting the most appropriate translation of every single word according to the context.
