SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Nov. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, with a free software update called Trueplay™, millions of Sonos owners around the world will be able to precisely tune their speakers without the need for specialized equipment or complicated training. With reliable wireless strength and elegant aesthetics, Sonos speakers can now be placed anywhere in a house – from under a kitchen cabinet to the corner of a bathroom – and still sound great. Trueplay listeners will hear the full clarity and impact of their favorite music regardless of how challenging these locations are acoustically.
"The way I describe our approach as a home speaker company is like being a clear window from the studio to your home," said record producer, composer and Sonos sound experience leader Giles Martin."Trueplay brings music fans closer to all the emotion captured in the recording studio."
Trueplay makes it easy for anyone to improve the way music sounds in any room. Using the Sonos app, the microphone on an iPhone or iPad, and a special tone emitted by the Sonos speaker, the system analyzes the acoustic profile of any room to determine how sound reflects off walls, furnishings, glass and other surfaces that impact how sound is heard. Sonos then smartly tunes that speaker in 60 seconds or less so the music sounds it's very best. The sound profile of each speaker is changed only as much or as little as needed to sound right for the room. Whether Trueplay makes a big or small sonic adjustment, the listener always knows they are hearing the purest sound.
"Trueplay is a major step in Sonos' mission to bring music fans a great experience at home without compromises. And we believe a great experience is one that also stays current," said Sonos Chief Product Officer Marc Whitten. "The original PLAY:5 now features Trueplay, so a speaker that was released more than six years ago is going to have its best year yet, even as we've begun selling its successor."
In addition to both the original and new SONOS PLAY:5®, Trueplay is compatible with all SONOS PLAY:1® and SONOS PLAY:3® smart speakers, iOS devices, and will continue to be added to more of the Sonos lineup over time. To get started with Trueplay at home today, update to the latest software and open Rooms Settings in the Sonos iOS app.
