In Germany, the District town of Siegburg Makes Mobility a Way of Life
Urban management processes gain mobility with smartphones and tablets
MUNICH, Sept. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- MobileIron (NASDAQ:MOBL), the stand-alone EMM leader, announced today that the district town of Siegburg has adopted MobileIron's EMM platform as the secure foundation for transforming its bureaucratic processes with mobile apps and devices. For employees in this city in North Rhine-Westphalia, having mobile access to key backend systems saves both time and money. In addition, the city's mobile transformation increases Siegburg's attractiveness for Generation Y employees.
"Our citizens want to be able to contact employees in specific departments in order to get complete and timely information. Therefore, these employees need a secure mobile connection to digital files and corresponding administrative procedures both in the field and at the home office," said Bernd Lehmann, Department Co-Head in the government offices of the district town of Siegburg.
"MobileIron provides enterprises and organizations like Siegburg with software to protect their sensitive data and to enable secure access to data and applications. Moreover, employees have the freedom to work on their choice of mobile device," said Peter Machat, Director DACH & Eastern Europe at MobileIron.
Siegburg is making full use of the EMM platform for process optimization. Numerous processes in different task areas within the municipal administration are designed for use with iOS or Android smartphones and tablets, all centrally managed and secured by MobileIron. Siegburg's city council currently leverages mobile solutions in the following areas: tree registry (environmental protection), documenting road damage and monitoring parked vehicles by the city's law enforcement agencies (traffic wardens, or "Politessen"), law and order violations, janitorial services in municipal public buildings, and documenting building damage.
Key mobile applications Docs@Work and Web@Work
Seigburg is mobilizing its administrative processes by implementing MobileIron's platform, including MobileIron's intelligent gateway Sentry, Docs@Work for mobile content management (MCM), and Web@Work for secure mobile browsing. This integrated approach provides mobile access to electronic process files (e-file, "eAkte") on the intranet for authorized administrative staff and for members of the municipal council, while Web@Work is used for nursing and care documentation in the district town's senior centers.
Bernd Lehmann summed up by saying: "This gradual replacement of pen and paper greatly increases efficiency in administration processes."
