At the ceremony, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce representative Maggie Will highlighted the value that Charlotte School of Law adds to the uptown Charlotte community. The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by Charlotte School of Law President Chidi Ogene. The center increases awareness of the importance of compliance as a growing career field.
"We at Charlotte School of Law are excited by the opportunity to provide 21st Century practical training to the Queen City's workforce, and to contribute to the continued growth of its businesses," explained Ogene.
The Center for Compliance and Ethics recently established its Corporate Compliance Certificate program, an online program accredited by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB) ®. The program is designed for both lawyers and others who do not have prior training or a professional background in compliance. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be able to sit for any of the certification examinations offered by the CCB. The program was designed and is taught by compliance experts in Charlotte's business and compliance community, including Charlotte School of Law faculty.
Amid today's complex and ever-changing legal and regulatory climate, compliance career opportunities have been growing and expanding considerably. One of the few law schools in the country to offer a fully online Corporate Compliance Certificate, the program offers business professionals the opportunity to participate in an 18-week, flexible program that they can complete without leaving their jobs.
In addition to providing the Corporate Compliance Certificate program, the Center for Compliance and Ethics will offer webinars for compliance professionals, host occasional "Lunch & Learn" events, and hold an annual Symposium that will produce industry-specific white papers.
Upcoming Center for Compliance and Ethics events include:
- March 10, 2016: Corporate Compliance Certificate online webinar
- May 3, 2016: Summer Corporate Compliance Certificate program kickoff; and
- June 2016 (exact date to be determined): Corporate Compliance Symposium.
