Changzhou National Hi-Tech District Provides Funding to Talented and Creative Individuals
CHANGZHOU, China, April 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The management committee of Changzhou National Hi-Tech District is accelerating the construction of a National Innovation Demonstration Zone, a business park with the mission of promoting independent innovation and the development of a high-tech industry in southern Jiangsu province, by rolling out several new support projects, including the Changzhou Talent Plan (Edition 3.0), a scheme to attract high-level talent to the District. Qualified projects that have been included in the Plan since January 1, 2016 are expected to be of benefit to a wide range of entrepreneurs and start-ups.
Any start-up defined by the Plan as a A class entity can apply for 3 million yuan (approx. US$463,200) in funding, while start-ups fitting the definition as B-class entities are able to apply for 2 million yuan (approx. US$308,800) and those defined as C-class can apply for 1 or 2 million yuan (approx. US$154,400 or US$308,800) in funding, respectively. Individuals who are already participants in China's "1000-talents Plan" who fit the criteria for A-, B- and C-class may apply for an additional 1 million yuan in funding. Professors and researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering who qualify for any of the three classes are allowed to apply for 3 million yuan in funding. Nobel Prize winners can apply for at least 5 million yuan (approx. US$772,000) in funding while professors and researchers from national scientific or engineering institutions in developed countries can apply for 3 million yuan (approx. US$463,200) in funding specifically for scientific research.
Changzhou National Hi-Tech District has decided to prioritize the development of talented individuals as its primary strategy goal during the period of the country's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020). As part of the strategy, the District plans to focus on the recruitment and fostering of talented individuals as well as the development and provision of quality services supporting these talents. In addition, the District intends to create a dynamic and innovative entrepreneurial environment for excellent entrepreneurs by attracting high-quality investment, accelerating the construction of incubators and spaces specially designed for stimulating creative thinking, and generally increasing the ability to provide space to talented individuals.
