5th Annual OMG! Cancer Summit for Young Adults Launches Competitive Fundraising Campaign
Game-Changing Event Expects 500 Attendees At Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas
NEW YORK, Sept. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The I'm Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation ("i[2]y"), the nation's largest support community for young adults affected by cancer, today launched its website along with social media and competitive fundraising campaigns to raise awareness and funding for the 5th Annual OMG! Cancer Summit for Young Adults ("OMG!"). OMG! is the premiere oncology conference and social networking event for the young adult cancer movement and is being billed by cancer survivor and i[2]y Founder/CEO Matthew Zachary as "The most highly anticipated healthcare event of 2012."
Since its launch in 2007, OMG! has become a pivotal healthcare event that mobilizes survivors, caregivers, providers and advocates to give voice to and drive change for the next generation.
OMG! will be held at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada and is expected to host more than 500 patients, survivors, caregivers, advocates and medical professionals. Workshops such as "Body Image," "Know Your Skin," "Are You There God, It's Me Cancer" and "Cancer & The Environment" will provide key insight, education and support to those in attendance as well as 10,000 anticipated virtual attendees via live stream. Keynote speakers and special guests will be announced soon.
"We couldn't be happier to open our doors and support this event," said George Maloof, Chairman of The Palms Casino Resort. "The Palms is committed to the cause of young adult survivorship."
In additional to signature recognition and exhibiting opportunities for corporate sponsors and nonprofit organizations, OMG! is launching a community fundraising campaign called the OMG! Player's Club, a unique twist on established systems that allows attendees the chance to earn up to $600 in travel reimbursement by reaching certain fiscal milestones, with the highest earners winning iPods, iPads and even a Macbook Air. For more information on the Player's Club and how to join, visit http://OMG2012.org.
"This was the event I wish existed when I was diagnosed because my experience was just so lacking in age-appropriate peer support." said Alli Ward, young adult survivor and Co-Chair of the 2012 OMG! Summit Steering Committee. "Our plans for this event are going to redefine what is possible for this generation to accomplish in support of its own demographic."
