"Like the motherboard was to personal computing, Zymbit Orange is to the IoT market," said Phil Strong, CEO of Zymbit. "We're giving makers the first pre-packaged hardware and software platform built upon open components, so they can skip the painful prototype stage and start acquiring real world data and publishing it securely in a day. Zymbit takes care of the tough technology problems freeing seriously creative people to focus on bringing their IoT ideas to market quickly."
The Zymbit IoT platform
The Zymbit IoT platform consists of the following:
Zymbit Connectivity Software that simplifies the connection, authentication and sharing of secured data and the management of remote devices.
Zymbit Orange Hardware that's easy to customize and makes it easy to interact at the edge of the network for data acquisition and new user interfaces.
Zymbit Iris that offers a new way to interact with IoT devices using color, touch and scale.
The Zymbit IoT platform simplifies the complexity of getting an idea to market by leveraging open technology (such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Linux), open developer communities (GitHub), and open application communities to encourage the quick expansion of IoT ideas and products. Zymbit is developing an open architecture product with enough flexibility to be suitable for most applications, from a single installation to a global deployment. A less visible but very real barrier to mass adoption of IoT is security and privacy. Zymbit addresses privacy with a multi-level security architecture that includes silicon, hardware and software.
Contest
Zymbit is encouraging makers and developers to register their projects to the Zymbit community site at http://www.zymbit.com/make. By posting to the community, makers can begin sharing live data streams and collaborating with others. Zymbit is looking for the most creative projects that need help scaling to the masses.
Projects should meet one or more of the following criteria:
- seriously creative idea that you are passionate about bringing to market;
- solves a real problem that scales;
- data security and authentication are important;
- collects unique data "from the edge" of the network.
The top 5 projects will each receive a Zymbit Orange device to scale their projects rapidly. Contest winners will be announced on August 21, 2015.
