SEATTLE, Nov. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Whether it's the classic bedtime story or a warm pair of pajamas, online retailer zulily helps to create special bedtimes 365 days a year. This holiday season zulily is working with some of their boutique and beloved brands to help make bedtimes better for thousands of underprivileged children and youth across the country.
The holiday season means many different things to many people, but the one constant is usually that families spend quality time together, taking a break from their daily routines. For children and teens living in hardship or without a family to bond with, the simplest things can help nurture their spirits and provide them with a sense of comfort that will last long after December ends.
This year, zulily is launching a series of events from Nov. 17 through Dec. 15 to provide children and teens in need with the essentials to help establish and celebrate a holiday nighttime routine of their own. The purchases made on zulily during this time, featuring a "Buy One, Give One" badge will trigger a donation to one of two philanthropic organizations, First Book and Treehouse, dedicated to providing children and teens with essential resources to help establish a stronger sense of routine.
"Since we launched zulily, we've always believed we could provide something special for our customers each and every day. We have developed company-wide philanthropic initiatives that encourage our employees to give back in meaningful ways," said Darrell Cavens, CEO, zulily. "This holiday season, we're sharing our commitment to our customers by partnering with First Book and Treehouse. With every donation to First Book and Treehouse this holiday season, a child can enjoy the simple comfort of being tucked in at bedtime with warm, cozy pajamas and a bedtime story."
First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise that provides new books and other essentials to children in need, truly understands the importance of story time as a way for parents and caregivers to bond with children and develop a love of reading.
"We're so glad we can partner with zulily to provide the comfort of bedtime stories for kids in need," said Kyle Zimmer, CEO of First Book. "We believe all children should have access to the resources they need to succeed in school and thrive after graduation, and often this can all start with the simple joy of a bedtime story."
A simple thing like a new pair of pajamas is not so simple for a child in need, especially those in foster care during the cold winter months. Treehouse, a local neighbor to zulily in Seattle offers a free store where youth in foster care and their caregivers can shop for high quality new and like-new clothing and other essentials. Having a cozy pair of pajamas readily accessible during the holiday season helps kids in foster care experience a warm, cozy night of sleep.
"We are so grateful for zulily's commitment to youth in foster care, many of whom are separated from friends and family for the very first time this holiday season. The simple comfort of receiving new, cozy pajamas will help them rest easier and create a happy holiday memory they will cherish," said Janis Avery, CEO, Treehouse.
In order to make these donations a reality, zulily thanks the generous participating brands who have supported the efforts to help make bedtimes better. Participants include:
- Penguin Random House, the world's largest trade book publisher, is dedicated to nourishing a universal passion for reading and fostering the next generation of readers. Penguin Random House is participating as zulily's single source of book donations to make bedtimes better for kids in need this holiday season.
