Zoom Media's Francois de Gaspe Beaubien Named Chairman of Digital Place-Based Advertising Association
Outgoing Chairman Mike DiFranza Named Founding Chairman
NEW YORK, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Digital Place-Based Advertising Association (DPAA) announced today that Francois de Gaspe Beaubien, Chairman & Chief Coaching Officer of Zoom Media, has been voted in as DPAA's new Chairman of the Board. He will work closely with Barry Frey, who was named DPAA President & CEO in May. de Gaspe Beaubien has been a DPAA board member since 2006.
The outgoing DPAA Chairman, Mike DiFranza, was voted Founding Chairman in recognition of his many contributions to the organization and the digital place-based media industry. DiFranza recently resigned from the DPAA board when he stepped down as President of Captivate Network.
"On behalf of the entire board, I am delighted to announce Mike DiFranza's appointment as Founding Chairman," de Gaspe Beaubien said. "During Mike's seven years as Chairman he played an integral role in the development of the DPAA and, in turn, the rapid growth and maturation of our entire industry. We are extremely grateful for all that Mike did for digital place-based media."
Frey said, "I personally appreciate Mike's counsel these past several months and am pleased the board voted to recognize his contributions. Looking forward, I am excited to work more closely with Francois, a long time valuable contributor to our board and a leader in our growing industry."
DiFranza said, "I am very proud of what we have accomplished over the last seven years. I take great comfort in knowing I leave the organization in the capable hands of two extraordinary executives, Barry and Francois. I look forward to continuing to help the DPAA and other companies in this industry through my new business, Otter Hill Advisors."
de Gaspe Beaubien became Chairman & CEO of Zoom Media when he acquired the totality of the company in 2003. Previously, he was Co-CEO and Co-Owner of Canada's largest consumer magazine and radio company (sold by 2002), Telemedia.
de Gaspe Beaubien is the Executive Chairman of Ayuda Media Systems, builders of the globally utilized BMS (Billboard Management System), software that caters to all out-of-home operational needs, including digital.
DPAA will be holding its 6th annual Digital Media Summit, "Video Everywhere" (www.videoeverywhere.com), on Oct. 22 at the Hilton New York. More than 450 industry executives -- a majority from the brand and agency side of the business – will be in attendance.
The "Video Everywhere" theme reflects the rapid shift to a video agnostic world in which planning and buying are no longer tethered to television alone. Consumers are encountering video content everywhere; out of home, in specific venues and on the go. In this new world order, digital place-based media stands out for its ability to reach consumers at the moment of truth on the way to making brand and purchase decisions.
