SAN DIEGO, May 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Zodiac Pool Systems, Inc. announces its Jandy^® Pro Series line of variable-speed and two-speed pool pumps are ENERGY STAR® qualified, signifying they meet or exceed energy-efficiency guidelines. ENERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect the climate through superior energy efficiency. Jandy Pro Series' ENERGY STAR-qualified pumps include variable-speed VS-FloPro™ and ePump™, and two-speed Stealth™, FloPro, and PlusHP series pumps, for a total of 18 certified pumps. Both variable- and two-speed pump options were submitted for testing, to help pool professionals and consumers find a Jandy Pro Series ENERGY STAR-qualified pump to suit any pool or spa equipment setup.

According to ENERGY STAR, multi-speed pumps save energy by reducing pump speed; a speed reduction by one-half uses just one-eighth as much energy. On average, ENERGY STAR pumps are 30-72 percent more energy-efficient than a standard model. However, select variable-speed Jandy Pro Series pumps enable pool owners to use up to 90% less energy compared to single-speed pumps, and depending on local utility rates, are capable of saving up to $1,300 per year.

The pumps are compatible with Jandy Pro Series' Versa Plumb® system, a swimming pool equipment set that provides exceptional hydraulic efficiency and intelligent design elements that have resulted in one of the most energy-efficient pool systems in the industry. The Versa Plumb system is comprised of a pool pump, filter, heater, valves, salt system and sweep elbows that have been engineered to work together as a whole system. Versa Plumb offers 50% more hydraulic efficiency, saves 40% in installation time, uses 50% less plumbing pipe and fittings, and requires less horse power. The result is significant savings in both energy consumption and utility bills.
