Zimperium Announces Key Hires to Support Unprecedented Company Growth
Tim Barker joins Zimperium as Chief Financial Officer; Michael Trites joins as Vice President of Sales, Americas
SAN FRANCISCO, July 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Zimperium, the global leader in enterprise mobile threat defense (MTD) and the only provider of real-time on-device protection against known and unknown mobile threats, today announced two additions to its senior leadership team: Tim Barker as chief financial officer and Michael Trites as vice president of sales, Americas. The significant hyper-growth experiences that both Barker and Trites bring will help Zimperium continue its record customer, partner and market share growth and momentum.
Zimperium's on-device detection protects data and access in real-time, without the delays and limitations of cloud-based detection. Zimperium's patented machine-learning technology has detected every exploit over the last five years, on-device and without requiring updates.
Zimperium's customer base grew by 400% in 2016, and the company is now protecting hundreds of enterprise customers, and tens of millions of licensed devices, around the world. Zimperium's momentum is fueled in large part by significant, worldwide mobile and security partnerships with leaders across the ecosystem, including major mobile operators Deutsche Telekom, SoftBank, Telstra and SmarTone and leading enterprise mobility management (EMM) providers including BlackBerry, Microsoft, MobileIron and AirWatch.
"There is a critical need to secure mobile devices, yet traditional endpoint security solutions are not architected for mobile realities," said Tim Barker, chief financial officer. "Zimperium has the team, technology and financial strength to shape the industry and lead the charge for mobile security. I am excited to help the company grow and achieve its aggressive growth plan."
Barker will help Zimperium take its growth to the next level as chief financial officer. With more than two decades of experience developing and managing financial and accounting organizations for high growth businesses, he will help the company establish financial policies, business plans and facilitate new financings. Previously, Barker was the chief financial officer at RealPage, where he helped grow revenue from $30 million to $400 million, leading the company through a successful IPO in 2010. After RealPage, Barker was the chief financial officer for Spredfast where he more than tripled bookings and completed a successful $50 million capital raise in 2016.
Bringing nearly 25 years of experience in the application, security, hardware and software networking industries, Michael Trites will focus on expanding Zimperium's American business. Specifically, Trites will lead the charge for generating the company's revenue, hiring and retaining a world-class team, as well as recruiting and enabling the best channel partners. Trites comes to Zimperium from Riverbed, the leader in Application Performance Infrastructure, where he held numerous executive positions, including vice president of major accounts, Americas and vice president of sales, Americas East. Previously, Trites was the regional vice president of sales, Northeast US and Eastern Canada for NitroSecurity. Trites also held executive positions at Enterasys Networks and Cabletron Systems.
"I am excited to be a part of such a strong leadership team and look forward to continuing Zimperium's acceleration in the market," said Trites. "With our patented machine learning technology, continual focus on innovation and leading enterprise capabilities, Zimperium Mobile Threat Defense is highly differentiated and brings unequalled value. I am excited to help some of the biggest and best companies in the world protect their mobile devices, and the corporate information that those devices can access."
"I am delighted to welcome Tim Barker and Michael Trites to the team. As we scale the company, Barker and Trites' experience and energy will enable us to accelerate our velocity to new levels," said Shridhar Mittal, chief executive officer of Zimperium. "We've seen massive growth over the past years, and we are excited for what we can accomplish with their guidance and expertise. We look forward to leading the next evolution of mobile threat defense."
