In addition to promoting ZigBee and expanding collaboration in the Greater China region, the group will focus on expanding membership, increasing participation in regional activities and conferences, identifying China-specific standard needs, and promoting the ZigBee Certified program for interoperable products. In June, 2011 the Alliance established offices in Beijing and Wuxi China to improve local access while addressing requirements for ZigBee standards to meet China's specific needs for its rapidly expanding infrastructure and growing markets.
"China's focus on the Internet of Things as one of its key strategic initiatives in the 12th five year plan is unique in the world," said Bob Heile, chairman of the ZigBee Alliance. "The ZigBee SIG-GC will provide a China-centric platform to facilitate greater collaboration between our members and other organizations in China as they look at how ZigBee can help them meet this important strategic goal."
With the support and close collaboration of the Taipei Computer Association and CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion of the International Trade, Electronics and Information Industry Sub-Council), the SIG-GC is participating in the 2012 Computex Internet of Things Forum in Taipei on June 7, also at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. It will feature a full day ZigBee forum open to Computex attendees and a ZigBee Pavilion with members exhibiting at the Internet of Things Solution session.
