Zhone Technologies Announces New Fiber Deployment with Internet Colorado and ICConnex

OAKLAND, Calif., Jan. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Zhone Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZHNE), a global leader in the fiber access market, today announced a new FTTx deployment with ICConnex, a Division of Internet Colorado, LCC. Through a strategic partnership with Team Telecom, Zhone's equipment will enable Internet Colorado to provide high-end and secure network services at affordable prices, saving customers money and giving them mobility outside their homes or businesses while operating on the same secure and encrypted network used for their landline connections. 

Residential and business customers in Gunnison, Colo. will now have access to the advanced broadband-based services they desire at the speeds they need. Internet Colorado/ICConnex's new network, complete with Zhone Active Ethernet OLT and ONT's, along with Ruckus Wireless Mesh wireless access points, will provide an economic boost for the city, establishing necessary bandwidth speeds and ensuring the communications dollars are kept within the City of Gunnison, instead of being sent to other states.

Using the new fiber/wireless network, subscribers can have multiple devices connected to the same private network, and trust that the communications are completely secure and encrypted. Currently, bandwidth starts at 7MB and goes to 70MB on wireless and as high as 1200MB on fiber. Switches have been placed in alleys, supplying homes and businesses with dedicated access, and access points were placed every 320 feet, providing a flawless mobile wireless network experience.
