SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Zetta Venture Partners, the first fund focused on the Intelligent Enterprise, today announced that Jocelyn Goldfein joined the firm as a Partner. Prior to Zetta, Goldfein was an angel investor, following an unparalleled career as an engineering executive at high-growth companies including Facebook and VMware.
Goldfein established VMware's Desktop Business Unit, becoming Vice President and General Manager of a cross-functional product organization responsible for a $150 million business, reporting directly to the CEO. She led teams at Facebook that launched major updates to news feed, photos and search. She also led the mobile infrastructure team through a critical period in Facebook's pivot to mobile. As an angel investor, she's been deeply involved in helping early stage tech startups, with a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) and infrastructure companies.
"Jocelyn's breadth of experience and relationships with high-growth startups, both as an executive and early stage investor, is a perfect complement to our team," said Mark Gorenberg, Managing Director of Zetta Venture Partners.
"Developing two of the industry's most significant platforms in Facebook and VMware gives Jocelyn a unique and powerful perspective on how to build software and create organizational cultures that foster excellence," added Ash Fontana, Managing Director of Zetta Venture Partners.
"Zetta's size and focus on early stage investing in the Intelligent Enterprise holds strong appeal for me," said Goldfein. "I have a passion for teaching founders how to scale their companies and build great products. I'm thrilled to join Mark and Ash in partnering with the founders of companies that will define enterprise software for the next generation."
Goldfein serves on several boards, including Harvey Mudd College. She is a guest lecturer at Stanford University, her alma mater, and has been an active voice on diversity in technology.
Zetta backed 16 companies in its first fund including Bebop (acquired by Google), and "unicorns" Domo and InsideSales. All of the companies in the fund's portfolio reached $1 million in annualized revenue within a year of their investment.
