ZeroLoss Containment Shell Scores First Century; 100 Orders Shipped
ARVADA, Colo., June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sundyne recently announced the shipment of its 100th sealless magnetic drive pump featuring the recently introduced ZeroLoss containment shell. This revolutionary containment shell extends the advantages of Sundyne sealless magnetic drive pumps, demonstrating their commitment to providing end users in the oil, petrochemical and chemical process industries with improved efficiency and reduced equipment life cycle costs.
"We are thrilled to be celebrating the 100th shipped order of the ZeroLoss containment shell. Thanks to this new features, we are able to offer our customers a more efficient sealless magnetic drive pump than ever before," said Steve Rose, General Manager of Sundyne HMD Kontro in Eastbourne, UK.
Available as an optional add-on for Frame 2 and Frame 3 Sundyne brand HMD Kontro pumps – which are built to comply with rigorous API-685 standards for sealless pumps – the ZeroLoss containment shell works by eliminating eddy current heating; a common issue with rotating equipment, which is associated with metallic containment shells. By eliminating eddy current heating, energy consumption is reduced and significant cost savings are realized.
These advantages increase in proportion to the magnetic coupling size of the pump, making the ZeroLoss containment shell's benefits most apparent on larger pumps with motors rated over 100 horsepower, which is a common power rating for use in petrochemical applications. In these configurations, reductions in the size of the magnetic couple and motor specifications can lead to dramatic reductions in initial capital costs. Additionally, smaller base plates can sometimes be specified, allowing for a reduced equipment footprint and consequent space savings.
