WASHINGTON, June 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To celebrate a decade of saving lives, a charitable foundation has challenged ZERO – The Project to End Prostate Cancer to double the number of men tested through the Drive Against Prostate Cancer, the only nationwide mobile prostate cancer testing program. Contributions from individuals and companies to the Double the Drive $1 Million Matching Campaign will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $1 million, and will be used to expand outreach by building a new testing vehicle and doubling the number of testing days.

"The Drive Against Prostate Cancer is the most successful prostate cancer testing campaign in America, having tested more than 110,000 men in the last 10 years," said Skip Lockwood, ZERO's CEO. "As we begin another 10 years in our fight against prostate cancer, this challenge to double the drive will allow us to dramatically expand the campaign and save many more lives through early detection."
The Drive Against Prostate Cancer tours the nation offering free prostate cancer testing in a convenient and comfortable environment. Appointments and insurance are not necessary to be tested, and testing vehicles feature flat screen televisions, satellite cable, leather chairs and snacks. More than 110,000 men have been tested since 2002, saving as many as 7,000 lives by alerting men with abnormal test results to go see their doctor.
Individuals and families who participate in Double the Drive by committing $1,000 to the campaign will have their name permanently placed on the outside of the new Drive Against Prostate Cancer testing vehicle, as a way of remembering a loved one who lost their battle with prostate cancer or honoring someone who is fighting the disease. Companies contributing $2,500 will get their company name on the outside of the new testing vehicle.
