Zenith Watches Now Available Online - Watches of Switzerland Becomes the UK's First Official Online Retailer
LONDON, March 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Zenith Watches (http://www.watches-of-switzerland.co.uk/brands/zenith-watches ) are now available to buy online. We are very proud to announce that you can now purchase Zenith watches on the Watches of Switzerland website. Zenith has chosen Watches of Switzerland to be its first online UK retail partner - a sign of the close relationship we have with the brand and the trust they place in us to get it right when it comes to representing them both in our showrooms and online.
Zenith is one of the watch industry's oldest and most respected brands, with a history of watchmaking achievements that stretches back to 1865. Company milestones include the Zenith El Primero (http://www.watches-of-switzerland.co.uk/brands/zenith-watches/el-primero ), which is still the world's most accurate series-produced automatic chronograph movement, despite the fact it first found a home in a watch case in 1969, well before the dawn of computerisation.
The new Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 1969 features an opening in the dial so you can see the movement beating inside.
Over the years, the El Primero (http://www.watches-of-switzerland.co.uk/brands/zenith-watches/el-primero ) has been used in all manner of timepieces made by a variety of brands, most famously in Rolex Daytonas made before the year 2000. It's currently one of two movements that form the backbone of the Zenith line-up, the other being the ultra-thin Elite that has been with us since 1994 and is often credited as being one of the movements that kick-started the revival of luxury watchmaking after the Quartz Crisis of the 1970s and 1980s.
The El Primero's accuracy comes from its high frequency escapement - it beats at a pulsating 36,000vph (vibrations per hour), compared to usual chronograph rates of around 28,000vph. Two years ago, Zenith announced it had harnessed the El Primero's power to create a chronograph that could measure time to the nearest tenth of a second - the 'Striking 10th' embraced innovative watchmaking materials like silicon to achieve this and became one of the big hits of Baselworld 2010. Today, it's a massive favourite with collectors.
Zenith's El Primero Striking 10th features 326 components and takes 20 watchmakers nine months to make.
