MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Zenith Education Group, a nonprofit provider of career education, is partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) to create a $600,000 scholarship program. The scholarships, to be used for attendance at Altierus Career College or WyoTech Advanced Technical Training campuses, will be awarded by BBBSA over the next three years.
BBBSA is the nation's oldest one-to-one youth mentoring organization. Through its network of affiliates in every state in the country, over the last 10 years, it has matched more than 2 million children in mentoring relationships with caring adult volunteers.
"We, like Big Brothers Big Sisters, realize the importance of providing a support system to help individuals improve their lives," said Peter Taylor, president and CEO of Zenith Education Group. "We look forward to working together to achieve our shared mission of helping young adults realize their potential and build their futures by providing a path to a career."
Zenith's Altierus and WyoTech campuses offer high-quality programs in several fields including health care, automotive technology, construction trades and information technology. The on-campus teams, which include academic experts, financial aid advisors, and career specialists, provide the support services students need to help them do well in college and beyond.
Current and former participants in Big Brothers Big Sisters programs, age 27 and younger, who have a high school degree or equivalent GED and meet academic readiness standards, are eligible to apply for scholarships. The program is initially being piloted in five locations around the U.S.: Columbus, Ohio; San Antonio, Texas; Laramie, Wyo.; Seattle, Wash.; and Tampa, Fla.
"We appreciate this partnership with Zenith, which will help provide viable education opportunities beyond high school for young men and women who have been affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters," said Pam Iorio, president and CEO of BBBSA. "Together, we are expanding the possibilities for these young people as they explore career opportunities."
A total of 150 scholarships ranging from $4,000-$6,000 will be available over the next three years starting in fall 2017.
