Zend Releases Major Update of Zend Studio, the Leading PHP IDE

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- ZENDCON 2010 — Zend Technologies, the PHP Company, today announced the general availability of Zend Studio 8.0, the leading Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for professional PHP developers. The new release helps PHP developers streamline development and testing processes through integration with VMware Workstation and revamped support for servers running on-premise or in the cloud. Zend Studio 8.0 also delivers extensive support for the development of rich Internet applications that use JavaScript front-end and PHP back-end. A new pricing model was also announced for Zend Studio 8.0, making it accessible to more developers.

Virtualized PHP Development Processes

Zend Studio 8.0 enables PHP teams to enhance their development and testing processes by running and debugging their applications in a virtual, production-like environment. Through integration with VMware Workstation, developers set their development server to a local virtual machine that mirrors the production environment, and deploy their code directly onto that virtual server from the Zend Studio interface, thereby eliminating potential errors and speeding up the testing and debugging cycles. Zend provides ready-to-use virtual images for Zend Server to further optimize the debugging experience.

Remote System Support

Developing PHP code on a remote server running on-premise or in the cloud is significantly easier in Zend Studio 8.0, with its simplified workflow and improved performance. SSH or FTP connections can be used to import projects into Zend Studio, and then export them back to the remote server to be run or debugged.

Enhanced JavaScript Coding and Debugging

Zend Studio 8.0 enables faster coding of PHP and JavaScript applications through built-in Content Assist support for a large set of JavaScript-based libraries including jQuery, Dojo, Ext JS and Prototype. A new set of integrated Ajax tools simplifies debugging of PHP and JavaScript applications by supporting debugging of the JavaScript front-end and the PHP back-end in one combined session.

Enhanced Source Code Editing and Navigation

Zend Studio 8.0 adds enhancements to help developers write, debug and navigate PHP code more efficiently, including: 'Inspect' action in debug time, templated 'Content Assist', Drag and Drop in PHP/JavaScript editors, a new PHP search dialog, and more.
