Zanett and St. Vincent Health to Present New 'Bridge to CPOE(TM)' Solution at HIMSS
NEW YORK, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zanett (Nasdaq: ZANE) and St. Vincent Health will present a new healthcare information technology solution at the Microsoft Health Users Group Exchange, during HIMSS (Healthcare Information Management Systems Society), on Sunday, February 28, 2010.
Zanett and St. Vincent Health have jointly developed the Clinical Online Delivery System (CODS) software to support standardized, evidence-based order sets at the point of care, arming doctors and clinicians with critical information to improve medication safety and patient care. CODS gives providers Web-based access to evidence-based clinical order sets and patient consent forms, and serves as an electronic storehouse and distribution system for each.
CODS was developed for hospitals without a fully implemented electronic medical record (EMR) system. It serves as a "bridge" strategy towards moving to CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry), an application that enables providers to enter medical orders into a computer system in an inpatient or ambulatory setting. CODS is accessed via a Web browser and is commonly integrated with an existing secure physician portal site. This allows physicians to select their desired order items via a Web browser or mobile device, and enables them to print a legible customized form of hospital admitting or transfer orders for their signature.
"To introduce software of current, customized, evidence-based care plans will arm doctors and clinicians with critical information and support improvements in patient care," said Vince Vickers, SVP of Healthcare Solutions for Zanett. "As a result, doctors and nurses will be able to spend more time with patients and less time on the charting required of them in creating paper records. Applying clinical decision support at the point of care also lays the foundation for demonstrating 'meaningful use' of technology in the future."
Vickers and Alan Snell, MD, MMM, chief medical informatics officer at St. Vincent Health, will be presenting this new solution at the Microsoft Health Users Group Exchange 2010, which is co-located at HIMSS10. Their session is entitled "Building a Physician Bridge to CPOE and 'Meaningful Use' utilizing Microsoft Technologies and Frameworks" and will be held Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 11:30 a.m.
