HOUSTON, Oct. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Zahroof Valves Inc. (ZVI), established with a focus on improving the performance of reciprocating compressors through the introduction of its game-changing compressor valve, today announced their proprietary StraightFlo Valve (SFV) technology has received a patent in Russia. This patent joins other nations including New Zealand, Ukraine and China, as well as having been allowed in the Gulf Cooperation Council where it is currently awaiting issuance. The ZVI StraightFlo Valve (SFV), created by ZVI President and CTO Zahroof Mohamed, is a patent-pending, revolutionary, reciprocating compressor valve technology that is a drop-in replacement for conventional valves. The innovative design, based on the patented Modular Reed Valve technology, delivers a step improvement in reciprocating compressor performance, serviceability and reliability while reducing gas emissions to the environment and minimizing valve inventory.
Owing to its modular design that eliminates machining of the valve during servicing, unlike most valves that offer a limited one year warranty, ZVI offers an industry-leading 10-year warranty on its valve housing. The ZVI StraightFlo Valve has also been proven to improve valve efficiency by up to 40% and significantly extends valve service intervals. The current generation of SFVs can be applied from 350 to 3600 rpm, has a maximum pressure differential capability of 3000 psi, and a maximum continual use temperature from -40F to 550F. The valves' unique design allows OEM compressor manufacturers to rethink the design of compressor cylinders to improve efficiency, increase speed for a given efficiency, reduce volumetric clearance and reduce costs.
The unique design of the SFV can be applied to all gas compression applications including:
- Natural gas gathering, production, transmission and storage
- CNG
- Injection
- FPSO
- Fuel gas boosting
- CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery
- Hydrogen
- Air compression
- Industrial gas
- Refrigeration
"Since its feasibility test in 2010, with the development of a proprietary dynamic valve analysis software and research into the valve design limits, the technology has been successfully applied in a number of applications in the field where it has proven beyond doubt the improvement in efficiency, reliability and minimization of operation costs," says Zahroof Valves, Inc. President Zahroof Mohamed.
Zahroof is working with Oregon State University on an ARPA-E MOVE project aiming to repurpose one cylinder of an automobile engine running on compressed natural gas (CNG) to be used as a compressor to refuel it. Zahroof Valves was also named a finalist in the annual Platt's Global Energy Awards as a "Rising Star," as well as the recipient of the Pipeline Industry Guild's 2013 Land-based Pipeline Technology Award.
