Zachys to Hold D.C.'s First Commercial Live Auction in 30 Years
The global auction house to host a two-day, single-owner fine wine auction at D.C.'s Charlie Palmer Steak on October 27 and 28.
SCARSDALE, N.Y., Oct. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- New York-based Zachys announced they will be holding the first commercial live auction in Washington, D.C. in the last 30 years. The two-day, single owner sale, titled "The Capital Collection," will be held on October 27 and 28 at Charlie Palmer Steak, followed by two single-owner eAuctions later in the year.

The 1842-lot collection comes from an anonymous D.C. collector who is also a longtime Zachys client. Friday, October 27 features "Wines of the World," highlighting first and second growth Bordeaux, red and white Burgundy, and lots from Champagne, California, Italy and more. Saturday, October 28 is dedicated entirely to red Burgundy featuring producers like Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Georges Roumier and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
"As you will see from the collection, The Capital Collector enjoys a variety of wines, ranging from the top châteaux of Bordeaux, Champagnes and leading producers from Piedmont and Brunello. All wines were purchased widely and mainly on release, and many are offered in deep verticals," states Zacharia.
Zachys recently expanded its enterprise to Washington, D.C., opening a 20,000-square-foot operations center in D.C.'s Northeast District. Located at 3521 V Street NE, the facility provides a premium wine environment, consisting of a showroom, event space and a fully refrigerated, temperature-controlled retail and storage warehouse.

The expansion allows Zachys to bring auctions, bidding parties and auction simulcasts to the D.C. market.
