OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Oct. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- YRC Worldwide Inc. (NASDAQ: YRCW) today announced the 2012 winners of the Destination Green Environmental Excellence Award for employee leadership in sustainability. In the second year of the awards, two teams were recognized along with seven employees. This year's awards recognize employee involvement in emissions reductions, recycling, and industry leadership in the driver community. The two teams and seven individual award winners were nominated by fellow employees and winners were selected by a committee.
"Our employees continue to demonstrate leadership in their efforts to sustain corporate and natural resources," said James Welch, CEO of YRC Worldwide. "As a whole, the entire organization strived for environmental progress this year as YRC Freight optimized their network to reduce unnecessary lane miles and subsequent emissions while improving service at the same time. Holland, Reddaway and New Penn continue their leadership in the same day and next day LTL market with employee teams that are dedicated to making their freight services environmentally responsible."
