Youth Speaks Announces The 18th Annual Bringing The Noise For Dr. Martin Luther King
A Poetic Conversation With MLK
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Youth Speaks, the country's leading spoken word and literary arts organization, will present Bringing the Noise for Dr. Martin Luther King – A Poetic Conversation with MLK at the historic Nourse Auditorium on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 7pm.
For the 18th year, Youths Speaks will gather community members to celebrate the ongoing life and legacy of Dr. King. Our celebration features thoughtful responses from brilliant Bay Area poets to Dr. King's powerful work and words. The urgency of Dr. Kings works and words resonate deeply with the current state of our nation. It has never been more necessary than right now to gather as a beloved community and hold space for young poets to raise their voices and speak. In the tradition of Dr. King, we acknowledge the power of the sincere word to breathe life into justice.
This year's showcase will feature performances by Universes, Young Gifted and Black, members of the SF Jazz High School All-Stars, Youth Speaks alum Dahlak Brathwaite, Do D.A.T., Youth Speaks Grand Slam Champions, and more. Hosted by Youth Speaks' own M.C. K~Swift with DJ Dion Decibels.
