Youth Advisory Board Addresses Social, Financial, Educational and Safety Issues With Action
State Farm(R) invests more than $4.5 million in Youth-led Projects
BLOOMINGTON, Ill., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Environmental responsibility was on the minds of youth when considering service-learning projects.
The State Farm Youth Advisory Board announced today it will award $4.5 million for youth-led, service-learning based projects to 82 community organizations across the United States and Canada.
More than 1,100 grant requests totaling nearly $80 million were received. The grants will be awarded to the organizations in the following ways:
- $1.7 million will go to 31 environmental responsibility projects.
- $1 million will go to 20 higher education/closing the achievement gap projects.
- More than $700,000 will go to 14 financial education projects.
- More than $800,000 will go to 13 natural and societal disaster preparedness projects.
- More than $250,000 will go to four driver safety projects.
