Your Favorite Pasta Memory Could Help You Win $10,000
Skinner® Pasta Celebrates Centennial Anniversary with 100 Years of Mealtime Memories Essay Contest
HARRISBURG, Pa., March 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Whether it's your mother's legendary lasagna she made special for your birthday or your grandfather's weekly batch of spicy Tex-Mex Chili Mac, Skinner® Pasta has been a part of Texas family meals for 100 years. To celebrate all of the mealtime moments and the memories they evoke and to commemorate their 100th anniversary, Skinner Pasta will honor ten decades of Texas mealtime traditions with their 100 Years of Mealtime Memories Essay contest.
Now through May 14, 2012, Skinner Pasta invites families from the Texas region to share an original story of a favorite mealtime memory with Skinner Pasta in 250 words or less by visiting www.skinnerpasta.com or mailing their essay to the address listed in Official Rules. One essay will be awarded the $10,000 Grand Prize. Four runner-ups will receive $1,000 to help them continue the tradition of creating mouth-watering mealtime traditions.
Texas culinary authority and author of the new cookbook, Texas Eats, Robb Walsh has fond memories of eating Skinner Pasta at the family dinner table. "The first time my kids tasted my mom's lasagna, they demanded that I learn to make it the way Nana did," said Walsh. "Mom layered the curly-edged Skinner noodles into a glass baking dish with her homemade red sauce and then spooned in smashed meatballs and ricotta. I thought it was crazy to make meatballs and then smash them up, but I don't ask questions anymore, I just follow Nana's recipe. It's wonderful when family recipes get handed down through the generations. I'm sure my kids will want to learn Nana's recipe someday."
Families looking to add some new Skinner memories to their mealtime rotation can be inspired by Robb Walsh's family favorite Nana's Lasagna recipe available on www.skinnerpasta.com.
"Many people might be surprised to hear there is a rich history of Italian cooking in Texas," said David Heimbecker, Senior Director of Marketing, New World Pasta. "Skinner Pasta is proud to play a role in years of special mealtime traditions and we look forward to celebrating ten decades of dinnertime dishes and the stories that honor them."
