'Your Emerging Leadership Journey': New Book Gives Future Leaders the Roadmap to Success
EAST LANSING, Mich., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- In business, there is a difference between management and leadership, and a new book, Your Emerging Leadership Journey, offers practical and sometimes surprising ways to emerge a leader -- both in life and one's career.
Professor John King, Jr. and Dr. Ronald F. Cichy, using real-life examples, offer a detailed "roadmap" to a leadership position in any business, in less than ten years. This journey can be undertaken by anyone, whether a new graduate or a well-established business person.
With understandable concepts and terminology, as well as user-friendly practical applications, Your Emerging Leadership Journey is the essential guide to leadership. It shows how to move from supervisor to manager to leader, defining the skills required for each phase, such as self-knowledge, emotional intelligence, empathy, and the ability to see the big picture. The book provides a blueprint that readers can personalize as they advance through their leadership journey.
Your Emerging Leadership Journey was born from a 16-year teaching partnership at Michigan State University. Professor King and Dr. Cichy team-taught two senior-level courses in The School of Hospitality Business: Managing for Quality in Hospitality Business, and Emerging Leadership.

"We wrote this book after testing the concepts in our Emerging Leadership course at MSU," says Professor King.
Dr. Cichy adds, "Executives and managers in our executive development programs have added their input, too. This was valuable since it comes from people who recognized that their technical skills should be complemented with the leadership practices we present."
