YoungArts Appoints Miami Dade College President Dr. Eduardo J. Padron to Board of Trustees
MIAMI, May 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- YoungArts, the core program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, is pleased to announce that Dr. Eduardo J. Padron has joined its Board of Trustees. Dr. Padron, the President of Miami Dade College, is greatly respected for his leadership in the community and on a national level.
Since 1995, Padron has served as President of Miami Dade College. An economist by training, Dr. Padron earned his Ph.D. from the University of Florida. President Padron is widely recognized as one of the top educational leaders in the world and is often invited to participate in educational policy forums in the United States and abroad. During his career he has been selected to serve on posts of national prominence by five American presidents.
Currently, President Padron's energetic leadership extends to many of the nation's leading organizations. He is the immediate past chair of the board of the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) and is chair-elect of the board of the American Council on Education (ACE). He also serves on the boards of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching; the Council on Foreign Relations; the Business/Higher Education Forum; the League for Innovation in the Community College; RC 2020; the Collins Center for Public Policy; the College Board Advocacy and Policy Center; the 2010 White House Fellows Selection Panel; the Federal Reserve Board of Atlanta, Miami Branch; the Commission on the National Museum of the American Latino; and the International Association of University Presidents, among others.
YoungArts is the signature national program that recognizes and supports talented young artists in nine disciplines in the visual, literary and performing arts. The program provides 17- to 18-year-old high school senior artists with unique artistic enrichment experiences, performance and exhibition opportunities and financial support.
