New kids' mobile book creation app encourages creative writing and artistic expression
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Fingerprint, a leading children's mobile technology company, today announced the launch of Scribble for iOS and Android, the next generation creativity app based on the award winning Scribble Press, one of TIME's top 25 Apps for kids in 2012. Featuring a range of fun and educational creative tools for writing, drawing and music, Scribble, encourages self-expression at home or school for kid creators from 5 to 12.
With no limits on imagination, kids can create what's in their heads and hearts. Starting with a blank book or one with prompts, kids add words, music, photos, record their own voice and put themselves in the story, all while picking from 300 drawing tools, backgrounds and loads of stickers. There are even 30 fill-in-the-blank story starters ranging from the silly to the sublime.
The mobile app is designed for families as well as the classroom. The original Scribble Press app has been called "hands down the best story creation app," winning numerous awards from educational and parenting media. Adopted in over 35,000 classrooms and used by kids to create more than 3 million digital books, the original app has inspired a generation of writers and artists. Scribble is unlike other related apps in that it allows children to either use all of the tools provided and simply make a great book in five minutes, or take an entire month to create something original.
"Scribble offers parents and teachers fun, yet educational, opportunities for children to build their soft skills—writing and creativity, said Nancy MacIntyre, CEO of Fingerprint, the creator of the platform after purchasing Scribble Press last year. "We invested in this strong brand knowing it's the best to provide today's digital kids with the tools and inspiration they need to share their personal perspectives of the world."
The free version offers three story templates and basic story creation tools. The premium version at $5.99 offers more than 30 story templates and additional backgrounds and stickers, plus the ability to export and share creations as a PDF or video.
Key features:
A. VIDEO: Books can be exported as short videos to share with friends and family members.
B. STORY STARTERS: New story starters help get kids right into the fun and creativity. Kids can also start with a blank page and write any story they like.
C. STICKERS: More than 300 beautiful digital stickers, characters, backgrounds, stamps and drawing tools are included for kids to use.
D. PHOTO FEATURE: Kids can also put themselves into the story with photo import and special photo stickers.
E. MUSIC, VOICE RECORDING AND MORE: Kids can add music and their own voice to any story.
Scribble is available today in the Apple App Store, Google Play, or via Samsung Kids.
