YogaWorks Continues Rapid Expansion With Purchase Of Two Studios In Boston, MA
Transaction Extends YogaWorks Brand and Reinforces Eclectic Programming is Key to Success
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- YogaWorks, the industry leader in yoga practice and fitness, continues its aggressive expansion with the purchase of two studios in Boston, MA. Award-winning Back Bay Yoga Studio, located on Boylston Street near the famous Boston Common, and Sweat and Soul Yoga on Commonwealth Avenue across from Boston University, were officially acquired today, marking YogaWorks' official entry into the Boston market.
This transaction marks the third acquisition for YogaWorks this year. The purchase of a studio in Palo Alto, CA located a few steps from University Avenue near Stanford University, followed by the acquisition of a chain of seven yoga studios in San Francisco, contributed to its growth from 29 to 40 studios in 2015 with studios in Southern and Northern California, New York, and now Boston. Several new studios are also currently in construction and will open within the next six months, including four in the Los Angeles area (i.e. Woodland Hills, Playa del Rey, Koreatown and Downtown LA) and one in Novato, California.
"The addition of these two premier studios marks a historic moment in the growth of our portfolio as well as our entry into Boston," said Phil Swain, Chief Executive Officer, YogaWorks. "Back Bay's excellence in offering a variety of yoga classes is perfectly aligned with our mission to reach more people through high quality teaching and an eclectic mix of styles to meet the interests of a broad group of students."
To maintain the continuity of programming and operations, YogaWorks will retain all teachers and staff currently in place at both Boston studios. Both studios are being rebranded as YogaWorks as the company builds local awareness in a city where it has been offering its world renowned Teacher Training program since 2008. Students will soon be able to purchase a membership to practice at either studio for a complementary programming schedule, which will include even more yoga classes and fitness offerings. Existing Back Bay Yoga and Sweat and Soul Yoga students will also receive one month of complimentary access to over 800 online yoga videos through YogaWorks' online platform, MyYogaWorks.com, an excellent way to practice yoga between classes or further one's practice while traveling.
YogaWorks Back Bay, located at 364 Boylston Street on the second floor, is a 5,000 square-foot space boasting two spacious yoga studios with over 60 regularly scheduled classes, men's and women's shower-equipped changing rooms, and a welcoming lobby with trend-setting yoga apparel and props. YogaWorks Allston, located at 1032 Commonwealth Avenue, will undergo renovations to expand its yoga offering in two beautiful practice rooms, along with men's & women's changing rooms.
