Yoga For Kids: Gaiam Releases A New DVD Series That Provides Fun, Educational Yoga Programming To Help Kids Get Active While Stimulating Imagination
NEW YORK, March 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Gaiam, a leading provider of yoga content, announces the release of two new yoga programs – Yoga for Kids: Outer Space Blastoff and Yoga for Kids: Dino-Mite Adventure. Led by children's yoga expert Jodi Komitor, Gaiam's new Yoga for Kids interactive programs are designed to be fun, educational and get kids' bodies moving and imaginations soaring.
According to the CDC, childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years. As obesity rises, parents and teachers alike are seeing the benefits of yoga for kids: numerous schools are starting to offer yoga in the classroom, new kids focused yoga organizations are emerging and kids' yoga studios are becoming a growing trend. According to Komitor, "Yoga is proven to build strength, coordination and body awareness, and helps increase concentration for kids and adults alike."
Gaiam's two new programs will allow parents to offer yoga for their children in the comfort of the home. Designed for children ages 5+, the two programs are:
- Yoga for Kids: Outer Space Blastoff allows children's imagination to blastoff into a galaxy far, far away with three star-filled outer space themed yoga routines: Outer Space Blastoff, Solar System Yoga, and Out of this World. It also offers a bonus Space Balanceballs workout using a balance ball
- Yoga for Kids: Dino-Mite Adventure takes children back in time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth with three dino-mite practices: Baby Brontosaurus, Dino-mite Yoga, and Dino Dig. It also offers a bonus Dino Duo partner practice
"The themed yoga routines are a great way to introduce kids to yoga," says Komitor, who has been teaching kids yoga for almost 20 years. "The practice allows kids to play and exercise in a mindful manner, allowing for deeper connection with their inner self and their surroundings."
The new Yoga for Kids programs will be the first products in Gaiam's new Yoga for Kids collection slated to launch this summer, which includes a variety of mats and accessories in kid friendly colors and designs.
"Gaiam is excited to partner with Jodi to bring this new kids program to life," says Susan Haney, SVP of Marketing at Gaiam. "We love Jodi's approach to teaching kids yoga – it's about fun, laughter and playfulness. We are not only providing new programs that are great for kids, but we love that it's also about getting the entire family involved in yoga."
Yoga for Kids: Outer Space Blastoff and Yoga for Kids: Dino-Mite Adventure are each sold separately with an SRP of $14.98. Both are available at Gaiam.com, Amazon.com and wherever DVDs are sold nationwide, as well as for digital download on iTunes. The DVDs have a runtime between 55 and 65 minutes.
