YMCA of the Rockies Offers Two Fall Gap Programs
ESTES PARK, Colo., July 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center will offer two gap programs this fall designed to provide young adults with valuable employment opportunities while also exposing participants to meaningful trainings and social experiences.
ELEVATE (Aug. 20-Dec. 14), is geared to 18-24 year olds and combines meaningful community service with engaging outdoor activities in Rocky Mountain National Park. Additionally, there will be regular workshops on a variety of topics (resume-writing, time management, auto maintenance, etc.) that will help prepare participants for independent living.
THRIVE (Sept. 3-Dec. 20) is our newest program and is aimed at 18-22 year olds with a desire for self-discovery. The curriculum will be based upon YMCA of the Rockies' five core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith, and is geared to assist participants in developing purpose and clarifying values.
Both programs include paid, rotational work experiences in our service departments and will provide participants with resume-building work experience and an understanding of the hospitality industry. The many recreational and social activities at the Estes Park Center will be available to our gap program participants. After the successful completion of one of our gap programs, participants may elect to stay on as a seasonal employee at the Y.
According to Estes Park Center Director, Dave DeLuca, "These programs are a wonderful opportunity for a young adult who wants a supportive community and the chance to figure out what comes next in his or her life."
The YMCA's gap programs each have a $500 program fee which can be paid through payroll deduction over the course of the experience. This fee covers the cost of training materials and excursion.
OTHER FALL 2018 OPPORTUNITIES
Both YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center and Snow Mountain Ranch have lots of job opportunities for people who are motivated and enthusiastic, and there are some great incentives to come to work in the fall. Work-completion bonuses, CPR/Lifeguard certifications and travel assistance are just some of the perks of working this season. In addition to great work experience, our staff build friendships, develop lifelong skills and interests and will enjoy the beauty of autumn in the Rockies. People who believe in the mission of the YMCA and want to join a caring community of servant leaders are encouraged to apply.
