Yes Solar Solutions Brings the Tesla Powerwall to North Carolina
The First Tesla Powerwall Installation in North Carolina
CARY, N.C., Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Last month, Steve Calvert became the first homeowner in North Carolina to install a Tesla Powerwall, which is the latest version of the Tesla battery. Steve's home already has solar panels and a solar hot water system, and his was the first Tesla Powerwall installation for Yes Solar Solutions, a Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer. The company began quietly selling the Powerwall this year, sent its first purchase order to Tesla in June and now has a waiting list of customers for the batteries.

How it Works
Solar storage has been around for a while. In the past, deep cycle batteries tied to inverters have been used to store energy generated by solar. Batteries plus a fossil fueled generator have been another option. But the Powerwall lithium-ion battery technology with the built-in inverter is a game changer.
The lithium-ion batteries allow charging and using storage on a daily basis. Coupled with solar panels to provide power to the home, any excess will then go to the Tesla Powerwall. And any further excess goes to the grid. The energy is stored until needed. Steve is elated with his Powerwall. "When the sun goes down, instead of drawing from the grid, I can use the energy already generated. And I can program it to draw and store energy from the grid when the electricity rate is lower. My next step is an electric vehicle now that I have the Powerwall."
Certified Installation
Yes Solar Solutions became the first Tesla Powerwall Certified installer in North Carolina this year. "It was a very thorough approval process," commented Yes Solar Co-Founder and President Stew Miller. "Submitting profit and loss statements, company training and certifications, and then a very comprehensive training process for all our sales and installation personnel ensured we were the right partners and could deliver the Tesla Powerwall quality." The fact that Yes holds both General Contractor and Electrical licenses was a benefit.
