Yes on Proposition 39 Banner Targets Chrysler, General Motors, Kimberly-Clark, and International Paper at Democratic National Convention
Banner Reading "Stop Tax Dodgers! Yes on 39!" Flies Over Skies of Charlotte as Campaign Continues to Inform Policymakers and Consumers About Tax Dodgers' Strategy of Profiting off of Taxpayers While Avoiding Their Fair Share
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the Yes on Proposition 39 campaign took its show on the road to Charlotte, North Carolina, where the campaign flew a banner over the Democratic National Convention reading "Stop Tax Dodgers! Yes on 39!" The banner, which can be seen here http://on.fb.me/NSxLLa, included the logos of Chrysler, General Motors, Kimberly-Clark and International Paper, the companies that are aggressively fighting efforts to close a corporate tax loophole in California which is costing the state $1 billion in revenues and tens of thousands of jobs, while putting California companies at a competitive disadvantage. All four companies, also known in California as the Tax Dodger Hypocrites, supported closing the same tax loophole in states where they do the majority of their business – when it was to their advantage – but are opposed to closing the loophole in California, where the loophole gives them a tremendous competitive advantage over California businesses.
In a statement, the campaign stated, "The Tax Dodger Hypocrites, who refused to stand with California and ignored our California Fairness Pledge, can run, but they can't hide. These four companies are hypocrites because they all supported closing tax loopholes in other states when it was in their best interest, yet now in California they are fighting to keep the loophole because it gives them a huge advantage over California companies. Our campaign will continue to do whatever is necessary to ensure that policymakers are aware of the fact that these companies are dodging taxes in California while making millions off of California taxpayers. We will also continue our campaign to inform consumers about the Tax Dodger Hypocrites so that they can take the information into consideration before purchasing products from these companies in the future."
