Yellow Pages United Announces Winner of its Fall 2016 Mark Smith Award
Leah Radetsky will receive $2,000 toward her tuition
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla., Aug. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Yellow Pages United, an online directory dedicated to advancing the phone book into the future, today announced the winner of its fall 2016 Mark Smith Scholarship. Leah Radetsky of the Savannah College of Art and Design will receive $2,000 toward her tuition.
Contestants were asked to submit an original infographic showing the evolution of marketing from their parents' generation to their own.
Radetsky's infographic, "The Evolution of Advertising & Marketing: The Eighties vs. Today," uses two columns to compare how 1980s favorites have evolved into the marketing standards of the new millennium. For example, the advent of the personal computer eventually led to highly targeted advertising in the palm of our hand, and home shopping channels paved the way for online vendors such as Amazon.
"With unbelievable strides in technology, marketing in 2016 is sleek, refined, and a bit sneaky. … Everything is an ad—it just is not as obvious as it used to be," Radetsky said.
"Leah's piece is a wonderful illustration of how marketing can adapt to fit the times," said Mark Smith, founder and CEO of Yellow Pages United. "And a reminder that new technology brings with it a host of dilemmas and opportunities."
