Yellow Cab Taxi Fleet to Increase
Propane Conversion Planned
PITTSBURGH, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- "We're anticipating increasing growth as the economy continues its resurgence," according to Jamie Campolongo, president and chief executive officer of the Pittsburgh Transportation Group (PTG).
"As a result, we will be adding 50 new cabs to our Yellow Cab fleet over the next six months at a cost of $750,000," he added.
"Further," noted Campolongo, "in accordance with the green philosophy of our parent company Veolia Transportation, the largest transportation provider in North America, we will be converting as many as 100 taxis to propane fuel. The process should begin in September and will include construction of a propane fuel center at our Manchester garage."
"We are seeing and expect significant growth in our Thursday, Friday and Saturday business," he said. "In particular, today's generation has adopted a philosophy of 'don't drink and drive.'"
Campolongo expects up to 360 cabs to be in operation by year's end.
Besides Yellow Cab, PTG includes People's Cab, Super Shuttle, ExecuCar, Freedom Coach and PTG Charter Service. The firm also provides shuttle service for a number of corporate clients. In addition to its 350 employees, PTG has some 450 independent contractors.
