Yellow Cab Seeking PUC Approval for North Hills Service
PITTSBURGH, July 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- "We have had a series of requests from residents and hotel operators for service in the Greater North Hills including Cranberry, Seven Fields, Mars, Adams, Marshall, Bradford Woods, Pine and Franklin Park," said Jamie Campolongo, president and chief executive officer of the Pittsburgh Transportation Group (PTG). PTG is the parent of Yellow Cab of Pittsburgh.
"The calls," he added, "have complained about a lack of service in the Greater North Hills, especially after 5 p.m. As the largest cab operator in Western Pennsylvania, we believe we can fill that gap."
Campolongo will explain Yellow Cab's position in seeking to expand its service area at a public hearing before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission at their offices in Piatt Place in downtown Pittsburgh, at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 19.
"With 350 cabs and 425 independent contractors," said Campolongo, "we have no doubt we can fill the needed service."
Besides Yellow Cab, PTG is the parent company for People's Cab, Super Shuttle, ExecuCar/Embassy Coach, PTG Charter Services, and Freedom Coach. In addition to its independent contractors, PTG employs over 300 people. PTG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Veolia Transportation, the largest private operator of multiple modes of transportation in North America.
