Yale Millstein Center Honors Paul DeNicola, Head of Governance Center at The Conference Board
NEW YORK, June 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Paul DeNicola, director of The Conference Board Corporate Governance Center, has been named a Millstein Center Rising Star of Corporate Governance for 2011. The Yale School of Management's Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance announced the award in New Haven today at the school's sixth annual Governance Forum. The Rising Star award recognizes "young professionals in corporate governance who are making an impact as outstanding analysts, experts, activists, directors, and managers."
"We are extremely pleased that Paul DeNicola has been recognized by the Yale Millstein Center," said Jon Spector, President & CEO of The Conference Board. "Paul's passion and expertise in corporate governance is unmatched. Governance best-practice is increasingly seen as the key to unlocking the full potential of business to serve global markets and societies. As the 'Rising Star' award indicates, we expect Paul to be at the forefront of governance research and debate for years to come."
DeNicola joins ten other 2011 Millstein Center Rising Stars from a broad range of corporate, government, and non-profit organizations. They were chosen in a two-stage process: First, select leaders of the global governance community were asked to nominate exceptional professionals in the field under the age of 40 based on their records of past accomplishment and potential for future thought leadership. From this large pool of nominees, finalists and winners were decided by a committee comprised of members from the Millstein Center, the Open Compliance and Ethics Group, the International Corporate Governance Network, and Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
Under DeNicola's leadership, The Conference Board Governance Center has embarked on an ambitious agenda of research and outreach. Through its Directors' Institute, the Governance Center is a world leader in engaging directors, chairmen, and CEOs on governance issues, offering tailored educational programs as well as numerous peer-to-peer learning groups. In 2010, DeNicola authored Handbook on Corporate Political Activity: Emerging Corporate Governance Issues, a timely review for companies evaluating the risks and rewards of various forms of political spending. Recent high-impact initiatives also include The Conference Board's 2009 Task Force on Executive Compensation. In addition to his work in governance, DeNicola teaches philosophy and ethics at the European Graduate School, The City College of New York, Hofstra University, and Nassau Community College.
