Y Soft's SafeQ Solution Passes Ricoh Developer Program Compatibility Testing
WEST CALDWELL, N.J., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment, today announced that Y Soft Americas' SafeQ server-based solution passed the Ricoh Developer Program™ (RiDP™) compatibility testing process. A cost recovery and control solution, SafeQ enhances security and reduces overall costs by authorizing user access to multifunctional product (MFP) functions while providing accounting support for output.
As a RiDP™ Premier Plus member, Y Soft had access to the Ricoh software developer kit. By using Ricoh's sophisticated Embedded Software Architecture (ESA) platform, Y Soft was able to enhance SafeQ for integration into select ESA-enabled Ricoh MFPs through Ricoh's open architecture.
SafeQ is a server-based solution designed to control print management. Companies of all sizes can utilize its core functions of device access authorization and accounting. Users gain access to SafeQ-enabled MFPs via authorization through many supported access methods, including smartcards, fingerprint and proximity cards. The secure SafeQ server holds documents and releases them at the MFP upon user authentication.
"When developing SafeQ to integrate into Ricoh MFPs, Y Soft knew it would be a win-win situation for both parties," said Ken Cox, CEO, Y Soft Americas. "The sophisticated design of Ricoh's ESA provided us with a reliable platform to extend SafeQ's capabilities to a larger user base that already trusts the dependability and value of Ricoh products."
With SafeQ, organizations also gain more control over their print output costs with streamlined accounting support. For on-line accounting the server communicates with the MFP at the time of printing and determines the actual number of pages printed. For jobs that are cancelled or interrupted by paper jams, only the actual pages printed are billed. For off-line accounting, billing is done in accordance to the number of pages a job contains.
"SafeQ from Y Soft offers businesses enhanced access control of their devices," said Mark Minshull, vice president and chief technology officer, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "Control is of the utmost importance today, and with SafeQ integration on a Ricoh MFP, companies can quickly realize the profitability of better print management."
