Xyratex Participating in the SCSI Trade Association Technology Showcase

HAVANT, England, May 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Xyratex Ltd (Nasdaq: XRTX), a leading provider of data storage technology, today announced that it will be participating at the upcoming SCSI Trade Association Technology Showcase at the Santa Clara Hyatt in Santa Clara, CA. Xyratex will demonstrate, along with LSI and PMC, its prototype of a 12Gb/s enabled enclosure as well as how to extend SAS connectivity beyond its 10 meter limitation.

Xyratex will participate in two separate demonstrations at the showcase event. The first demonstration, in supporting sponsorship with LSI, forms part of the "No Compromise Performance" exhibit. Here Xyratex will demonstrate a next generation 12Gb/s capable prototype of its OneStor™ enclosures that incorporate SAS SBB controllers and utilize LSI expanders for 12Gb/s SAS host connectivity. The second demonstration, set up along with PMC, forms part of the "SAS Goes the Distance" display. This shows how Xyratex enclosures and Mini-SAS capability extend the reach of SAS connectivity beyond the 10m limit imposed by passive copper cables, to as much as 25 meters through the use of active copper cables.
