XL Insurance Promotes William F. Mc Enery to Central Region Executive, North America Property & Casualty

CHICAGO, Dec. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- XL Insurance, the global insurance operations of XL Group plc (NYSE: XL), today announced the promotion of William F. Mc Enery to Senior Vice President (SVP) & Central Region Executive, North America Property & Casualty (P&C). Previously U.S. Middle Market Manager – Central Region, Mr. Mc Enery will now direct business development activities across XL Insurance's P&C lines in a 19-state region.  Based in Chicago, he will report to Uwe Schoberth, Executive Vice President (EVP) & Head of North America Property & Casualty (P&C) Regional Management.

Mr. Mc Enery joined XL Insurance in 2008 to help build its Upper Middle Market unit which provides multiline coverages to large and mid-size businesses.  Prior to his tenure with XL Insurance, Mr. Mc Enery was Central Region Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer for North American Field Operations for CNA Insurance Company.  Throughout his 30-year career, he has held numerous underwriting management positions with CNA and Zurich Insurance Company.  Mr. Mc Enery earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Economics from the State University of New York.
