XL Insurance Appoints Joseph Tocco to Lead North America Property and XL GAPS Unit

NEW YORK, Jan. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- XL Insurance, the global insurance operations of XL Group plc (NYSE: XL), today announced the appointment of Joseph A. Tocco as  Executive Vice President and head of North America Property and XL Global Asset Protection Services (XL GAPS), effective February 1.  Reporting to Seraina Maag, Chief Executive of XL Insurance's North America Property & Casualty (P&C) unit in New York, Mr. Tocco will direct XL's property underwriting activities, including General Property and Energy Property business, and XL GAPS, a loss prevention consulting firm.

Mr. Tocco joins XL Insurance from Zurich Financial Services where he most recently led the North American property group, Global Corporate Business Unit, and previously served as Northeast Regional Property Manager and National Director of Engineering Lines.  During his career, he also held underwriting and risk engineering positions with Munich Re, Industrial Risk Insurers (IRI) and Hartford Steam Boiler.  A veteran, Mr. Tocco served as a Nuclear Field Service Engineer in the US Navy for nine years.
