XL Insurance Adds Wade Pitman to North America Property Team

NEW YORK, Aug. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- XL Insurance, the global insurance underwriting operations of XL Group plc (NYSE: XL), today announced the appointment of Wade Pitman as Senior Vice President and Western Senior Executive for Property.   Reporting to Joseph Tocco, head of XL Insurance's North America Property unit, Mr. Pitman will be based in Los Angeles and manage XL Insurance's Property business in the Western United States.

Mr. Pitman will be responsible for managing property underwriting activities in XL Insurance's Western region, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Washington and Oregon.  In addition to providing property coverages, he and his team will assist in coordinating risk engineering services for XL's property clients through XL Global Asset Protection Services (XL GAPS), its loss prevention consulting firm.

Mr. Pitman joins XL Insurance from Ironshore, where, as Regional Executive and Vice President of Property, he led the establishment and development of the company's Los Angeles and San Francisco offices and managed the technical underwriting activities of the property department.  Prior to his recent position with Ironshore, he was Senior Vice President Regional Property Manager of Zurich's Southwest region.  During his career, he also held business development positions at Allianz and various management, sales, and underwriting positions at FM Global.  He holds designations as a Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Mr. Pitman is a graduate of Arizona State University.
