XL Catlin to celebrate 10th anniversary of Global Day of Giving
DUBLIN, Ireland, Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- XL Group plc ("XL") (NYSE: XL) announced today that it plans to hold its tenth Global Day of Giving on Thursday, September 10, 2015.
Previously both XL and Catlin made Corporate Social Responsibility ("CSR") a priority. Together, CSR remains high on the combined company's agenda. The Global Day of Giving is a company-wide employee volunteer day dedicated to supporting the communities in which XL Catlin operates.
From the Global Day of Giving's inception in 2006, employees have performed more than 175,000 hours of community service through hundreds of charitable projects in various locations worldwide.
XL's Chief Executive Officer, Mike McGavick, said: "Both XL and Catlin have always been committed to getting involved in the communities around us and working to make a tangible difference wherever and whenever we can. Global Day of Giving allows us to do this as we collectively contribute our energy, skills and time to worthy causes. Also, now that we are XL Catlin, a larger and stronger company, we look forward to having a greater impact in the communities in which we live and work."
During this year's Global Day of Giving close to 250 projects have been scheduled in more than 65 locations around the world to address diverse issues including homelessness/hunger, unemployment, education and youth development, elderly/senior care and the environment.
