Xizi Otis Wins Shanghai Metro Line 17 Project

SHANGHAI, Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As a leading supplier of Shanghai's extensive rail network, Xizi Otis Elevator Co., Ltd. (Xizi Otis) has been selected to support the construction of Shanghai Metro Line 17. Xizi Otis will supply a combined total of 132 escalators and elevators to the project, including 104 XO21NP systems designed for high-traffic public infrastructure, as well as 28 energy-saving Gen2^® machine-room-less elevators. Xizi Otis has supplied close to 400 escalators to metro projects in Shanghai to date, along with associated maintenance services, covering Shanghai Metro Lines 2, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 16. The Xizi Otis escalators that will be used on Line 17 are specially designed for urban public transport. The state-of-the-art systems are equipped with a market-leading powertrain with high loading capacity and more than 30 safety devices to ensure continuous, stable and reliable operation with long product life.

The new Shanghai Metro Line 17 is an important link in the city's metro network. Constructed as part of Shanghai's 12th Five-Year Plan, it will be about 35 km long and is expected to begin operation by 2018.
