SPACEPORT AMERICA, N.M., and PETALUMA, Calif., May 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Global satellite communications solutions provider X2nSat announces today its decision to partner with Spaceport America – the world's first purpose-built, commercial spaceport. X2nSat has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the long-term lease of land and access to infrastructure as the first VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) solution provider within Spaceport America's new satellite gateway ground station development.
"I truly believe the world is a better place when the unconnected are connected," said Garrett C. Hill, CEO of X2nSat. "We chose to partner with Spaceport America to build the world's most modern satellite gateway to support current and future satellite fleets because we're passionate about building the infrastructure for the next generation of satellite communications. This location has everything we need to do that – stable and dry weather, a southern latitude, 24/7 security, plentiful real estate, minimal electromagnetic interference, and extremely low horizons in all directions. This represents the future of communications."
The MOA is a precursor to a long-term lease agreement scheduled to be finalized this summer. Groundbreaking for the facility is planned for later this year, with it becoming operational in 2016 and adding as many as 20 jobs to New Mexico in the long term.
By connecting its satellites to Spaceport America's robust terrestrial fiber network, X2nSat's planned ground station will enable a variety of space-based technology to improve daily life around the world – for health-care communications, smart-grid optimization, and energy and environmental monitoring, among others. X2nSat currently provides highly reliable wireless network and communications solutions to a wide variety of industries with its high-capacity satellite gateway and 24x7x365 Network Operations Center located in California, with redundant sites and data centers spread throughout the United States.
"X2nSat's vision, know-how and track record of achievement in the VSAT and satellite communications industries make them an ideal partner for Spaceport America," said Christine Anderson, CEO of Spaceport America. "We're thrilled X2nSat is joining our growing portfolio of customers, and look forward to fulfilling our mission to bring the future to the present through this new partnership."
Spaceport America will be exhibiting from today through May 21, 2015 at the Space Tech Expo in Long Beach, CA alongside the New Mexico Partnership, NM State's economic development agency in booth number 2000.
