Wyle Engineering Support to Modernize C-5 Life Raft System

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., June 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Wyle has been awarded an $850,000 contract to help update the 1960s-era 25-person life rafts used aboard the U.S. Air Force C-5 transport aircraft.

Wyle's work at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center at Robins Air Force Base, Ga., includes developing a technical data package and prototypes. Obsolescence issues make it increasingly difficult to procure spare parts, and Wyle will provide engineering support to enable procurement and maintenance of the rafts into the future.

"Wyle's experts will assess the life raft functions and requirements, and then prioritize the ideal solution for the entire system, resulting in improved maintenance and longevity of these systems," said Martin Kosiek, a Wyle vice president in the company's Aerospace Group.

Under the contract award, Wyle will conduct research, develop a technical data package, and, if necessary, reverse-engineer components of the raft system.
