SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Project Healthy Living, sponsored by WXYZ-TV and administered through the United Health Organization (UHO), will run March 23rd through May 12th. For more than 40 years, Project Healthy Living has offered free or low-cost health screenings throughout southeast Michigan to individuals 18 and older, serving more than 15,000 people each year.

This year, Project Healthy Living has expanded its number of screening sites to a total of 46 locations. The Project kicks off at Baker College in Allen Park on March 23rd. For a full list of sites and dates, visit wxyz.com.
Free services offered at all sites include screenings for health and weight, vision, blood pressure, and body composition, as well as health education, counseling, and referral. Free special tests and services offered at some sites include screening for glaucoma, dental, dermatology, allergy, hearing, podiatry, as well as EKGs, nutrition, counseling, pulmonary function tests, immunizations, lead testing and more.
Low costs tests will also be offered. These include a 26-profile blood panel, in which a four hour fast is recommended, as well as blood tests that screen for prostate cancer, and ovarian cancer. Screening that detect ulcers, gastritis and other stomach ailments are also available. All tests are processed by Quest Diagnostics Laboratories.
