DETROIT, Jan. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- WXYZ is the place to turn for all the auto show action at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. In three big events, Channel 7 takes viewers closer to the chrome than any other station in the Detroit market.

WXYZ-TV will bring viewers all the glitz and glamour of the 2012 North American International Auto Show with a 90-minute live broadcast on Friday, January 13, from 7-8:30p.m. "Red Carpet Charity Preview" will feature the latest in automotive trends and interviews with industry leaders as well as the hottest styles on the red carpet at this black tie event. Stephen Clark and Carolyn Clifford will take viewers inside the biggest one-night charity event in the country. The show will include features and live reports from 7 Action News reporters Mary Conway, JoAnne Purtan, Vic Faust and Glenda Lewis.
An encore presentation of "Red Carpet Charity Preview" will air on WXYZ on Saturday, January 14 at 8 a.m. Then from 7-7:30 p.m. catch Channel 7's consumer automotive special "Cars are Stars." Dave LewAllen and Alicia Smith host an exciting half-hour featuring reports from Anu Prakash, Dave Rexroth and Malcom Maddox.
In addition to extensive news coverage during press preview days and extending through the end of the public show days, WXYZ-TV will once again host Channel 7 Family Day on Friday, Jan. 20. Guests will have a chance to meet Channel 7 on-air personalities, along with weather anchor Sam Champion from "Good Morning America" and "Entertainment Tonight" weekend anchor Chris Jacobs. There will also be iPad 2 giveaways, live bands, circus performers, magicians, artists, games and activities with Radio Disney 910 AM.
WXYZ will also provide complete Auto Show coverage on wxyz.com. In a special Auto Show section, users will find up-to-the minute reports on the latest vehicle releases and photo galleries with the hottest cars complete with streaming video. Users on the go can also find the latest auto show information on WXYZ mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices as well as most other smartphones. For the first time ever, there will be two WXYZ Auto Show Tweetups! On Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., there will be an opportunity for 100 of WXYZ's social media fans around Detroit to see the auto show before it opens to the public. The second Tweetup will happen during Channel 7 Family Day on Friday, January 20.
